eLearning projects large and small…

Over the past ten years I have contributed to and individually developed many eLearning modules for large corporates and SMEs. As part of a team of in-house and freelance developers I contributed to substantial internal projects for Castrol, explaining their oil products in relation to the ‘Euro’ European emission standards for Heavy Duty Vehicles, and International Hotel Group staff development courses. These courses were developed in Adobe Flash which allowed for high levels of customisation and interactivity.

However, since the advent of iOS and the decline of Flash, most eLearning development has moved to HTML5 based platforms. I now have 4 years of experience using Articulate Storyline and have recently started developing in Lectora which, while not as flexible and customisable as Flash, still enable some interesting possibilities while eliminating the delivery limitations of Flash. These environments have the ability to allow Javascript functionality within their development platform, which can be exploited to enhance the basic native scripting allowing for custom interactions. This has enabled me to build employee development and code of conduct modules for Jaguar Land Rover, Balfour Beatty, QinetiQ and Lexus which have included custom granular reporting beyond the basic ‘pass/fail’ offered by most Learning Management Systems.
